Around his hometwon of Rhymney Rich was known as Bug. Do people from the town know where it came from? I was there so to speak.... As kids myself and Rich did a paper round for big brian who owned the shops at the bottom the street. On a sunday morning the papers were always late so waiting for delivery we were able to read a magazine. I would always go for the match or shoot football mags, Rich being rich went for the alternative selection and varied each week (cant remember exactly but thihking back he prob did show military interest then). Anyhow, one day as we waited for the delivery Rich went to speak to Brian in the back room and accidently walked in on him having a post-night out number 2 much to Richard's shock!! He ran back into the shop and picked up a mag and pretended to carrying on reading a mag which was called either 'bugs' or 'bug brain'. Brian came out in a huff and said what are you looking at now!? Rich just had a grin and I could tell what he was thinking with visions of big brian on his toilet again!! Anyhow Brian called him bug brain from then and it stuck before shortening and making him known as the one and only 'bug'. Most of us at school (comprehensive) knew him as bug. Have a video somewhere of us playing football at junior school, will try and locate it and convert it to view on here.
